The Crown by Kiera Cass

Posted by Unknown at 16:50:00

Sypnosis (from Goodreads):
When Eadlyn became the first princess of IllĂ©a to hold her own Selection, she didn’t think she would fall in love with any of her thirty-five suitors. She spent the first few weeks of the competition counting down the days until she could send them all home. But as events at the palace force Eadlyn even further into the spotlight, she realizes that she might not be content remaining alone.

Eadlyn still isn’t sure she’ll find the fairytale ending her parents did twenty years ago. But sometimes the heart has a way of surprising you…and soon Eadlyn must make a choice that feels more impossible—and more important—than she ever imagined.

My Review -- 5/5 stars!

A royal Farewell to The Selection by Kiera Cass.
You will be missed.

The Heir recap: Eadlyn is asked by her parents that she should go with the idea of finding a life partner just like Maxon did. She was stubborn and wanted her own ways before all the "burden" of politics came to her. Se got her ways. She selected the boys. She eliminated them. She was cruel to everyone including her parents, except her twin brother. She plotted to have her ways and have the election ended. But the circumstances made her decisions change. Her brother, Ahren, falls in love with the princess of France. A lot of emotional stuff happens within the family where one of the family member has a heart attack. The book ends.
What happens in The Crown: Eadlyn in this book was so much better. She wasn't the same self-centred girl like the one in The Heir. She was calm and observing. That's why this book is a 5 star rating. She used to whine a lot in the previous book and about every little thing but her character development is so good that she's not annoying anymore. She eliminates The Selected into the Elites. In the middle of the story the family member that was in hospital got better. There were enemies building up on the side.(I don't know ow to continue without spoiling, but not going to spoil lol.) She was like family to the elites. A lot of secrets get revealed by Maxon by the crimes he and America made. (they don't end up in jail if thats what ur thinking.) At the end, Eadlyn selects a mate and its one of the unexpected ones.

Characters:

Eadlyn (Protagonist)
She was so much better in tis book and thats what I loved. She was less annoying, whined less and wasn't self-centred. Everyone liked her even more now than they did before.

Henri (Protagonist)
He is one of the selected and he doesn't speak English in this book. He can understand and speak a bit, which was the cute part, but it was all good.

Erik (Protagonist)
He was the translator for Henri. I thought he would just be a fun side character that wouldn't matter but reading this book looks like he's the most important one.

America and Maxon (Protagonist)
They were so supportive of Eadlyn. Anything and everything she did, they made sure that their children were okay. And that's why I say respect your parents.

Kile (Protagonist)
He fell in love with Eadlyn since the previous book and I think everyone in this fandom was thinking that she would fall in love with him and marry him. But he is one of Elites left.

Lady Brice (Protagonist)
She is one of the people in the office. She has an assistant of Maxon in work. Turns out she is pretty important in this book.

Marid (Antagonist)
When he was first introduced I was like, his intentions must be true because he's saying all these things. The reason he's a Antagonist is because he turns the whole story around when he reveals his true colours.

Favourite Quote:
"Focus less on what people say and more on what you can accomplish"

Again, thank you for this world Kiera. I'll miss it but never forget it.
